【日本－インドネシア国際友好展ーネオ・アジア-ネオ・ジャポン2018ー日本の伝統美と現代アートの未来ー】

　本展覧会は《 ネオ・アジア・ネオ・ジャポン2018‐日本の伝統美と現代アートの未来‐》と題し,作家自身が表現する《日本》《東京》《セルフポートレイト》をテーマとした多様な現代アート作品です。本年度は,共立女子大学名誉教授であり,アジア美術文化協会 理事を務める 水谷靖(みずたに やすし)氏をバンドゥンの会場へお迎えし、能面作品およそ20点の展示に加え,日本の写真家,デザイナー,イラストレーター,アニメーターおよび美術教育現場で活躍する若き作家1１名 ，日本の大学・美術系大学・専門学校に在籍する学生12名の多彩な作品50点が展示されます。

　本展覧会のメインビジュアルとなる《能面》は，長年，日本の美術教育界で活躍し，現代美術の彫刻家として活動なさってきた水谷靖 氏が制作した作品となります。《能面》とは，日本の伝統芸能のひとつである《能楽》に使用される仮面です。《能楽》は，中国唐時代以降盛んであった《散楽》（宮廷で採用された正楽の雅楽に対する語，民間で行われていた雑多な芸能を意味する）が日本に伝わり，日本古来の農耕儀礼から端を発した《田楽》や主に寺社の儀式で催された《猿楽》へ融合していきました。《能楽》は，室町期（14世紀）に《猿楽》の演者であった観阿弥・世阿弥父子により集大成され，名付けられたとされています。《能面》も同様に，《能楽》が大成した室町期から安土桃山期に打たれた面を《本面》と呼び，現在まで演能者と共に歩み，多くの面が造られてきました。
　
　本展は，水谷氏が制作した能面作品22点を所収し，《能楽》の演目，三番叟で使用される《翁》をはじめ、《小面》《増女》《深井》《万媚》を中心とした女面、《童子》《中将》《小牛尉》などの男面、《橋姫》《般若》《痩男》など怒りや悲しみを秘め、鬼と化した面、そして、《小べし見》《大べし見》《大飛出》などの繊細かつ豪快な作品が展示されます。

　水谷氏は，東京芸術大學彫刻学科を1979年に卒業後，現代アートの作家として，彫刻・寄せ木を中心としたさまざまな作品の制作をされてきました。日本の伝統美術である『能面』制作をはじめたのは，44歳の時です。現代作家として活躍なさってきた水谷氏が日本古来の『面打ち師（めんうちし）』（『能面』を制作する職業）という世界に魅了された理由は，能面を打つに際しての深い精神性にあるといいます。

　『能面』を制作するにあたって『面打ち師』は，「自らを制し、己を滅す。」つまり，『能面』制作は，なによりも伝統的なしきたりや多くの決まりごとがあります。『写実』とは物事のありのままを表現することですが，一方で『能面』の世界における『写し』とは，単にありままを表現することではありません。なによりも面を打つ，制作者の『能』への深い知識や経験，伝統美への精神性そのものが写しだされます。
　江戸期に開花した「歌舞伎」とは異なり，「能楽」「狂言」は，貴族への学問として，また教養を身につけるハイカルチャーとして現在まで引き継がれてきました。しかし，現在の日本において「能面」をはじめした《伝統美術》を身につける機会はとても少なくなっています。

　本展覧会は，国立インドネシア文化芸術大学ファインアート学科とコラボレーションによる１．シンポジウム 2．アーティスト・トーク　３．ワークショップイベント、そして、 インドネシアの障害者学校への訪問プログラムも含まれます。これらは《日本の伝統美と現代アートの未来》について対話し，アジアにおける伝統美と現代アートについて再考する試みでもあります。現代の若きアーティストたちが創作する現代アートの作品秘められた，日本人としてアイデンティティを感じ取っていただければ幸いです。

-The traditional Japanese art and the future of contemporary art-】

" If it is hidden, it is the Flower "

It is quotation of words from “The Flowering Spirit” the 15thcentury classic text by Zeami （1363-1433）founder of the Noh theater and spirits.“The Flowering Spirit” is a translation of Japanese book of “Fuushikaden”（1400-1418）, it was a top secret, theory of Noh as Japanese theater.

What is Noh? It is a major form of classical Japanese musical drama that has been performed since the 14th century. Japanese "Noh" is the meaning of talent, ability, skill, all the skills that the owner of professional skills exerts are "Noh".
It is an author that metaphysically the Noh's aesthetics with the word "flower", including the interpretation from the point of view of artistic of Noh.

This year,the exhibition entitled "Neo Asia Neo Japon 2018 – The Japanese Traditional Art and the Future of Contemporary Art -".　It was theme of "Japan" "Tokyo" and including of "Self Portrait" .

These are diverse art works from 11 Japanese youngest artists , 12 Japanese universities students ,and 7 art works from high school students of Metropolitan Tokyo.

"Noh mask", which is the main visual of Japan and Indonesia friendship exhibition. "Noh masks" was creatived by Yasushi Mizutani who is Emeritus Professor at Kyoritsu Women's University.

The masks are more than just props but have the magical factor which lends the performer some kind of supernatural power. "Noh masks" look up a little bit gives an impression of a subtle smile and tilts down a little bit gives an impression of sadness.

Yasushi Mizutani graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Tokyo Art University. He was starting from contemporary artist. However when he was at the age of 44.He was started creative Japanese traditional art of Noh masks.

Why he was changed art style? It was reason for spirits of artistic Noh masks.
Process of producing Noh masks, all the skills of woods sculpture has traditional conventions and many more rules than anything else. The opposite way of thinking modern art theory.

It should be an important opportunity from reconsideration from Japanese artworks. Though this exhibition,we will dialogue about Japanese traditional art and the future of Asian contemporary art. There is a common theme with the modern and traditional Art.

"It is the hidden, it is the Flower".
As well as we can find flowers in contemporary art works.
